Joshua Shepherd (12)
The EKG program is not one that a lot of people know about, but that didn’t stop senior Joshua Shepherd from getting involved. Standing for electrocardiography, the program allows students to leave the class with full certification to use EKG machines. This opportunity is one that Shepherd could not pass up since he wants to go into the medical field when he gets older. Even though Shepherd does not want to be an EKG technician in the future, and instead is leaning toward the dermatology side of the medical field, he still wanted to take the class to get all the experience he could about the medical field. Shepherd’s family really pushed him to want to go into the medical field, but if he had to choose something else to go into in the future, he said he would enjoy finances because he likes to watch the stock market in his spare time.
“I want to pursue a career in the medical field, like dermatology. I know that really has nothing to do with EKG, but I figured it’s a health class and it will help me get on the path of what I want to do. I’ll gain a little bit of knowledge out of this class… My mom is a nurse and my grandfather before he died, he wanted me to be a doctor so I decided to do it,” said Shepherd.
