Mrs. Maritza Toro-Irizarry
Growing up in Puerto Rico, Mrs. Maritiza Toro-Irizarry did not originally plan on becoming a teacher. However, it came about when one of her colleagues saw qualities of a good teacher in her and suggested the career.
For college, Toro went to the Recinto un Universidad de Mayaguez, Universidad de Puerto Rico (the University of Puerto Rico).
“That one I have to be proud of and say it is the best college in Puerto Rico. NASA and post-bachelors students attend this particular school, and they take students from there. I actually have a few friends that work in NASA,” Toro said.
This year has been hard on her class and very limited, but she has still been able to work with it and tries to incorporate a lot of culture in the learning structure. Although Spanish Club was not in session this year, Mrs. Toro is usually involved in it and it is something she is very passionate about career-wise.
