Spring Break is here and many students begin to plan their activities and trips. Being such a tourist hub there are plenty of things one can do when planning on staying in town. As quite a few of us know, our town borders Anna Maria Island. Whether enjoying the delicious local seafood or taking in the beautiful beachside views we live on vacation. As a big history buff myself, I am always wandering back to the Anna Maria Island Museum. It has fascinating exhibits that could keep one busy for hours.

Another fun historic spot is the Old Bridge Street or Rod and Reel pier, where a curious vacationer can get lost among the many shops and plaques detailing the city’s colorful history. When the day winds down and the sun is setting over the white sandy beaches, grabbing a bite to eat is a must. many restaurants dot the island roads, including a local favorite in “The Ugly Grouper.” If skating is your thing then heading to the skatepark might be the ideal spring break day. Along with the skatepark on the island, one can also pay a visit to the sister skatepark on Bradenton’s Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk serves as a hub to quite a few of Bradenton’s most beautiful features. Primarily which includes the Bishop Museum and Planetarium, which is currently holding an exhibit that allows visitors to take a trip to the past. With life-size animatronic dinosaurs taking up the space in the new Mosaic Center, any visitor interested in checking out the animatronics can also enjoy the many other exhibits present in the museum. Including a limited-time shelling exhibit, the prehistoric bones, and the manatee rehabilitation center. Once finished with the museum, taking a sunset stroll through the river walk and grabbing a bite on our Main Street would call for the perfect evening.

If one is willing to make the trip, the Renaissance fair will provide some unique entertainment not found elsewhere. That’s held at the Sarasota Fair Grounds. If a complete change of pace is desired heading out to the Mote Marine Aquarium can provide a day deep underwater. As guests can see all manner of aquatic creatures throughout the beautifully constructed campus. If taking a break from the hustle of the school year is more your speed, then I’ll be right there with you. enjoying my home and bed for the next wonderful week.
