Drama Department isn’t Clue-less

Drama+Department+isnt+Clue-less

The drama department has truly outdone themselves in their recent production of Clue. The gorgeous set designs and the amazing costumes helped bring the setting to life. Along with the stunning visual aspects, the actors did a fantastic job with their delivery. The dialogue was funny as well as mysterious, creating a good balance.

The cast all collaborated well, and that teamwork shows through on the stage.

“It’s cast very well, everyone really likes each other, and we are all good friends,” said Zachery Williams (11).

While onscreen actors are incredibly important, we do not see all the work that is put into making sure everything moves as effectively as possible. The students who worked backstage also did a great job at quickly moving set pieces and helping with problems that were bound to arise during the show. For example, one of the tables onstage broke underneath two of the actors. This did not phase neither the actors nor the backstage crew, who effortlessly cleaned and covered up the incident.

“It’s very busy but it’s timed, organized, and strategic to make sure it doesn’t look sloppy,” stated Annika Mahurin (9).

Mahurin also discussed how a lot of the backstage crew had multiple jobs to keep everything going as smoothly as possible. Despite Mahurin being head of makeup, it only took up about 25 percent of her time. The rest of the time being used to help move stage pieces and help where she can.

The business of the show did not seem to affect anyone’s mood, and everyone handled the pressure with grace. The dedication that it took to commit to this show was astounding and the effort was worthwhile. The show was entertaining, witty, with lots of interesting twists and turns.

Congratulations to everyone who made this show happen!
