Hurricane Festivities

Hurricane+Festivities

Holiday spirit is on high this week with the door decorating contest! From November 28th to December 12th with some fierce competition among the classes. 5th period classes brainstormed and put up their door decorations for a prize. Many of the classes just decorated their doors with simple gift wrap or construction paper. Although some classes worked extremely hard to make their creative and original ideas work. Let’s go through some of the standout doors of the competition.

In building eight had some very tough competition. On the one hand the enchanting serenity of Sra. Ronderos’ hallway is truly a sight during a foggy morning. While on the other hand the grand and cheerful Star Wars themed corridor of Mr. Kincannon is something you would have never expected. “A lot of my fifth period like Star Wars, and so we did this theme.” Said Mr. Kincannon. One of the main reasons why his corridor stood out was its location, having a small alcove allows for more freedom as blocking traffic is less of a problem. “My favorite was Mr. Kincannon, I liked how that entire hall merged their themes.” Said Joshua Rose.

Let’s move on to building two. There are multiple standout doors here from the creative gremlin themed door of Mr. Gilbert to the classic gingerbread house of Mrs. Reynolds. Although it is plainly clear that our favorite doors from this building are Mrs. Byer’s Elfie booth, and Mrs. Gramstad’s home alone themed door. The Elfie booth was especially impressive with its advertising to take pictures and send them to a number; then they would print out the pictures and add them onto the wall. “We originally had a smaller idea, but we just kept adding on until it was like this.” Said Mrs. Byer.

Finally let’s give congratulations to our three winners. Mrs. Granstad’s home alone themed door, Mrs. Byer’s “Elfie booth,” and Mrs. Neiman. Don’t forget to check out some of the other doors below!
