On September 25, Lana Del Rey held a concert at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa Florida. She graced everyone with her angelic vocals which sang a wide range of her songs; Lana did not hesitate to put on an unforgettable performance.
The concert started at 8pm with Nikki Lane as the opener. Nikki Lane is a country singer who is most known for “Highway Queen” and “700,000 Rednecks.” She had a black and white set which matched the vibes of her songs.
An hour after Nikki Lane finished, Lana came out. Her singers came before her, wearing an oceany, flowy blue and green dress. The stage turned hot pink when Lana Del Rey came on, she was wearing a white dress with black cowboy buts and had her iconic “beehive” hair do, she sang the main verse of Norman ___ Rockwell. Her full opening song was “A&W”, a popular song from her newest album “Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard.” As she sang the first two songs, the set changed from various colors and the background shifted from an ocean to roses.
After her opening songs, she sang her “cult classic” songs. She sang her second most popular song “Young and Beautiful.” This song illustrates the dejected depiction on whether young love will last and be forever. She followed “Young and Beautiful” with “Bartender”, a song from her 2019 album Norman ___ Rockwell.
What ultimately made the crowd go wild was Lana singing “Florida Killos” for us. This wasn’t originally on the setlist, but the guy next to me in the pit got everyone to start chanting “Florida Killos.” Lana heard our “desperate cries” and gave us what we wanted. She didn’t just sing it one, she sand it TWICE, because her first time wasn’t “good enough.” We showered her with love and she praised us back, “I’m just gonna have to come back and do an even bigger show!”
Overall, her concert was a spiritual experience. The vibes before and after the show were immaculate and welcoming. What I loved most was that almost everyone’s outfits corresponded, a white dress with boots and heart-shaped sunglasses. In conclusion, seeing and hearing Lana in person was an experience I’ll never forget, and one I’ll forever be grateful for.
