The last jazz concert at MHS took place, on Tues. May 14, at 7:00 p.m. Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2 and a drumline combo participated in the performance with the seniors for their parents and fans. A special guest at that evening was the former band director of MHS, Mr. Bruce.

“I am just really happy to be here and see all the great band kids again. I am also excited about how they are going to play and see how they improved,” stated by Mr. Bruce.

During the stage break between Jazz Band 1 and 2, a combo of drumline members chosen by Mr. Miller played in special honor for Mr. Bruce and gave him a small gift for the participation in

Jazz it up! Jazz Band performing in the amphitheatre. The crowd was entertained the entire evening. “It is always a problem for me to play open-air, because the solo sound for me is different,” said Giovanni Rosario, senior.

this year’s Jazz in the Courtyard. Jazz Band 1 and 2 presented their entire program with songs like “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller and “In the Stone” by Earth, Wind and Fire. A small special of this year’s Jazz in the Courtyard concert was the food. Mr. Carrier organized an ice stand and other snacks for the audience to eat. The feedback from the crowd was good with about 250 people at the concert. It was bigger than the years before.

“I think it is amazing to see how quickly our two jazz bands improved from August last year to this year’s May. I had a great time with all the students here and I think we reached some goals and could all celebrate some victories together. They are all great kids and I hope they all stay like that,” stated in a small speech by Mr. Carrier.

The Jazz in the Courtyard concert was successful and made everyone happy at the end of the day. It was the last concert for the seniors of MHS and now most of them are joining their college jazz bands.
