To be a part of Z-Club means to be committed to selfless and supportive acts, the club benefits both school and community life by assisting in any way they can.

The history Zonta started as a feminist club, devoted to empower all women over the world by providing services and support for women’s issues. Zonta is the parent organization of Z-Club.

Some students may ask what the difference is between Key Club and Z-Club because their missions seem so similar. Key club is a really large organization with the general focus of community service hours. Z-club is smaller and more personal where one can complete community service work as well as developing friendships.

“I really think Z-Club is important because it really teaches teenagers to be empowered over situations they may feel like they don’t have control over especially with relationship, making choices because you’re kind of in between the adult world and the teenage world and knowing your have that support to negotiate,” stated Ms. Borkus, sponsor.

Some specific goals are to improve leadership skills, encourage members to contribute to the community and school and to assist rising graduates to explore a possible career choice.

Beach Clean-up- In the past, Z-club shows their appreciation to the ocean by going out and cleaning up along Coquina Beach. There were a surprising amount of plastics, cigarette buds and other miscellaneous litter that people carelessly left behind. “Z-club helps out the community a lot and its good to help out people and it feels good to help people as well,” said senior Daniel Shaw, a member of Z-club.

Z-Club brings more attention to the empowerment, anti- bullying and ending violence against women and men. It is common for people to be unaware of Z-Club because it is so underrated now compared to in the past when it was much larger.

“The importance of Z-Club  is getting gender equality for everybody (both men and women) and spreading love and friendship to everybody here on campus so that we can all feel loved, appreciated and be kind to everyone,” stated the senior president on Z-Club, Anastashia Ramirez.
