An Oddly Funny Show Two female leads will delight the audience in a twist of this classic play. “The Odd couple” play, adapted by Neil Simon will take place in April. “I’m definitely going to the ‘Odd Couple’ at Manatee because a few of my former students are participating in it,” stated Mrs. Adams.

Spring is approaching, and so are spring plays. Major plays including: “Les Miserables,” “Odd Couple,”  “Murder on The Orient Express,” and “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”

“Les Miserables”:

“Les Miserables,” will be the Van Wezel’s hit show of their spring season. “Les Miserable” is often joked as being based on a homeless girl and a loaf of bread; however there is a profound overall message behind it. Play goers will experience the challenges against social justice and how social classes affect individual rights. The actors and actresses of the Van Wezel plan to bring this message alive through the musical, which will take place from Feb. 26 to Mar. 1. Tickets can range from $88.00 to $122.00, directly from the website.

“Murder On The Orient Express”:

Climb aboard and become apart of one of the greatest mysteries in the room. “The Murder on the Orient Express” will be coming to the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota. Come watch “the greatest detective alive,” perform his detecting skills to solve the mystery of who murdered the governor on the Orient Express. The showings will go from Jan. 8 to Mar. 8, and the tickets are ranging from $45.00 to $95.00. The theater department will be taking students to join the mystery on Feb. 26.

“Well I’m huge into acting and plays so every time I get the chance to watch someone else in a play it’s sort of a way for me to learn more and I also enjoy the excitement of seeing a live show, it’s a good experience and learning chance that is enjoyable to watch, as well as to watch with friends and have a good time,” Emily Blanton, a junior.

“Odd Couple”:

Theatergoers do not have to travel far to see a fantastic spring play or spend a great deal of money. The theater department will present this production in Apr. 3, 4, and 5. “Odd couple” is a comedic play about two female roommates who are the exact opposite of each other. One is a clean woman who may or may not have OCD or obsessive-compulsive disorder while the other is a complete mess. The theater department will be selling tickets to raise money. The price of tickets will be $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students at the door.

“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”:

It does not have to be Thanksgiving or Christmas to enjoy a Charlie Brown Special. Visit the Manatee Performing Arts Center to see the comic strips of Charles M. Schulz come alive in this adaptation by John Gordon and Clark Gesner. The play will take the stage beginning Apr. 2 through Apr. 26, at 7:30 pm on every day other than Sunday, which will then take place at 2:00 pm. The price of tickets will begin at $38.00 and increase the closer the seats are to the stage.
