The class of 2020 came together Tuesday morning in the Davis Theater to learn about some important dates and fees coming up. Senior class sponsor Mrs. Beyer took the lead in the assembly, referring to a handout that everyone received that is complete with dates to remember from now until graduation day.

She highlighted all of the upcoming dates seniors need to know, starting with cap and gown. According to her, 319, or 67% of the senior class have ordered their cap and gown. The current price is already up to $65.50 and will raise to $80.50 Mar. 1.

Beyer then addressed the senior fee, which 148 of seniors have paid for. The fee is $25 and is to be paid online as soon as possible. The costs are put towards graduation day security, chairs, the sound system, and many other contributing factors that make the special day run smoothly.

The last day to sign up for Grad Bash is Feb 14. It is $125 total and can be paid to Mrs. Beyer. The actual date of the Universal Studiosand Islands of Adventure trip is April 3.

Another thing that was addressed was for anyone interested in speaking at graduation. The deadline to submit an application is March 27 and the students eligible will present their speech to a small teacher committee in Ms. McCarthy’s room on Apr. 2 at 2:30 p.m. For more information or for where to pick up an application, head to Mrs. Beyer’s room.

An essential topic came up in regards to mandatory rehearsals for graduation. Wednesday, May 13 at 12:45 p.m. and Thursday, May 14 at 8:45 a.m. are the two dates that all graduating seniors must be present for. Cap and gown will be distributed on May 14 as well.

The day that makes it all official comes May 16 at 8 p.m. on Joe Kinnan Field. Seniors can invite as many guests as they wish, though parking will certainly be an issue. The last school day for all seniors is technically May 8 but they will need to be counted present until May 13 to get the necessary amount of hours one needs to graduate.

“We [seniors] have been working towards this for 12 years,” announced Mrs. Beyer during the assembly.
