Residents in Oregon and Southwest Washington are bracing for extreme weather, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing strong wind advisories and flood alerts until Wednesday. High gusts and heavy rain are expected to hit the region, increasing concerns about power disruptions and urban floods.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the central and northern Oregon coasts, as well as Southwest Washington, from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Winds between 30 and 40 mph are forecast, with gusts up to 60 mph. Strong winds may knock down unsecured objects, trees, and branches, potentially resulting in power outages.
A wind advisory is also in effect for the Willamette Valley and lowlands of Clark County, Washington, with gusts of up to 45 mph forecast. The anticipated rainfall, along with debris-clogged drains, heightens the risk of urban floods in various regions.
The NWS advises households to secure loose items and clean trash from gutters to avoid flooding. To minimize disruption caused by potentially severe winds and heavy rain, emergency preparations should be made.
