A Wichita man was sentenced to life in prison plus 122 months for some offenses, including kidnapping a youngster from Arkansas.
In 2022, Arkansas detectives discovered that a 14-year-old ran away from home in November of that year and never returned.
They discovered she had been to a convenience shop with David Roark of Wichita, whom she had met online. Police discovered the youngster hiding in a closet inside a residence in Wichita’s North Riverside neighborhood.
A jury found Roark guilty on 18 counts, including aggravated indecent liberties with a minor, kidnapping, child abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child.
Roark will be eligible for parole only after spending 35 years in prison. This was the maximum penalty the court could impose under Kansas law.
