Police were unable to provide an update on the dog’s condition and declined to comment on its breed.

Both officers were transferred to a nearby hospital and are likely to be OK. Surveillance video obtained by Boston 25 News depicts the threat officers faced before three shots were fired on the dead-end roadway.

“I heard two shots and noticed that the dog was down. “About a minute later, or less, I heard a third shot,” stated one neighbor. “It was terrible.”

McGuire stated that she was not home when the attack occurred in a first-floor unit.

Boston Animal Control transported the shot dog and three other canines from the scene.
