A teacher who works with deaf children in Western Pennsylvania is facing charges after investigators discovered over 1,500 child pornography files on his devices.
Michael William Boston, a teacher at Riverview Intermediate Unit, is charged with 50 counts of child pornography following an investigation that began in 2022 with a tip.
According to the criminal complaint, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received information regarding child pornography transferred to the cloud business Synchronoss. After being transferred from Ohio, the investigation was sent to Pennsylvania State Police’s Computer Crime Task Force.
When police investigated the case last month, they tracked the files back to Boston, who lives in Grove City. According to police, the Riverview Intermediate Unit verified Boston was a teacher who went to various school systems to help with children with hearing difficulties.
Police claimed an examination of Boston’s phone and hard drive revealed over 1,500 photographs and videos of child pornography. There were also more than 1,200 photographs and videos of child exploitation.
According to the criminal complaint, there were further materials recovered from Boston’s home that have yet to be thoroughly investigated, but investigators discovered enough evidence to accuse him.
When officers interrogated Boston, they stated that he declined to continue talking after they explained why they had a search warrant for his home. According to police, he refused to confirm or deny having sexual contact with anyone under 18.
In addition to the child pornography accusations, Boston is accused of spreading photographs of child sex activities and making illicit use of a communication service.
