A Winter Weather Advisory remains in force for portions of Utah, with substantial snowfall forecast in the Wasatch Mountains and neighboring areas from Saturday evening to Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, snow will begin to fall around 5 p.m. Saturday and continue until 5 p.m. Sunday.
Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected, with localized totals of up to 15 inches in the upper Cottonwoods. The greatest snowfall is forecast on Sunday morning, with rates likely topping 2 inches per hour between 3 a.m. and noon.
The alert covers the Western Uinta Mountains, Central Mountains, and Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, where 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected. Winter driving conditions are forecast across the region, especially on mountain passes like Logan Summit and Mirror Lake Highway.
Travelers are asked to use caution, limit speeds, and monitor road conditions via the Utah Department of Transportation’s website. The National Weather Service’s winter weather page provides thorough forecasts, including snowfall visualizations.
