TRAVEL ALERT 5-10 Inches of Snow Expected in Colorado, Mountain Passes to Be Avoided

According to the Grand Junction office of the National Weather Service, a winter storm is currently moving quickly through the state of Colorado, bringing significant snowfall to the eastern Uinta Mountains, Flat Tops, and northern mountains.

Until Monday morning, winter weather advisories will continue to be in effect. It is anticipated that there will be between five and ten inches of snow, which will make travel extremely hazardous. Additionally, an advisory for snowfall of up to ten inches has been issued for the central mountains, particularly Vail Pass.

Mountain passes should be avoided at all costs if at all possible because the conditions surrounding them will be extremely challenging.

It is expected that there will be a second round of heavy snowfall from Tuesday through Thursday, which will make the conditions even worse. Plans should be made in advance, and drivers should keep themselves informed.
