Police in Texas have identified the two people involved in a murder-suicide that occurred in Laredo at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 24. According to NBC station KGNS, Laredo Police officers were summoned to an apartment complex in the 7600 block of Laguna Del Mar Ct. after someone reported seeing someone with a gun.
When police arrived, they reported finding an apartment with the door open and two females dead lying in a pool of blood, each with a gunshot wound. According to police, one of the victims died at the spot, while the second was transported to a local hospital and later confirmed dead.
According to authorities, the victims were Hermilia Villarreal, 74, and her granddaughter, Sarah Christina Villarreal, 26. Investigators have claimed that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide. It was also revealed that the inquiry is still ongoing.
The tragic double death comes after an Illinois woman was shot and killed by her soon-to-be ex-husband one week after filing for divorce. According to local police, Kimberly Hurley, 56, and her soon-to-be ex, Robert, were located at their house in the 200 block of Maplewood Drive shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.
“Sycamore police officers and deputies from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office located Kimberly Hurley, 56 and Robert Hurley, 58 both deceased outside the rear of the residence,” according to the report.” Kimberly Hurley and Robert Hurley were married and no other individuals were at the residence,” the statement added. “Both were shot, and a firearm was found on Robert Hurley. The area was secured, and a search warrant was obtained before performing an evidential search of the house.”
According to the Shaw Local News Network, as of November 8, the couple had been married for 22 years and had two children. “Various individuals were interviewed and detectives canvassed the area for additional information,” prosecutors said.
