One guy was killed and another is in custody following a deadly incident involving two automobiles in Jennings County, Indiana, late Monday evening.
James Pittman, 41, of North Vernon, is accused of driving while intoxicated and causing death.
According to a written statement released on Facebook by Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies, the incident involving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a Hyundai passenger vehicle occurred on U.S. 50 East near Brush Creek Elementary School around 9 p.m. Monday.
The driver of the Hyundai, Anthony Lucas, 44, of North Vernon, perished in the incident.
Investigators at the scene discovered that Pittman, who was driving the Toyota, was intoxicated. Pittman agreed to take a toxicological test on the scene and was arrested.
Investigators are awaiting the test results, but in the meantime, Pittman faces a preliminary felony allegation of operating while drunk, resulting in death.
