According to a Florida Highway Patrol investigation, both drivers died in a head-on incident early Tuesday morning on Williston Road in Alachua County.
According to the FHP release, the accident occurred Tuesday around 4:48 a.m. on Southwest Williston Road, just south of its intersection with Southwest Wacahoota Road.
According to the FHP announcement, a 30-year-old Gainesville lady drove a sedan south on State Road 121 (Williston Road). The vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a northbound sedan driven by a 57-year-old Crystal River lady.
Both drivers were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
According to Alachua County Fire Rescue, one of the drivers needed to be extricated from their vehicle.
