Deadly Wrong-way Collision on Us-23 Leaves One Dead and Another Hospitalized in Delaware County

On Thursday evening, a deadly collision occurred on US-23 in Delaware County, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.

Christopher Carden, 58 years old, was driving a 2015 Honda CRV southbound in the northbound lanes of US-23 when the collision occurred on December 5 at around 10:40 p.m. Carden was a resident of Columbus.

The Honda CRV was involved in a head-on collision with a 2017 Ford Transit Van that was being driven by Nicholas Lukat, who was 41 years old and from Delaware.

The officials stated that Carden was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. To receive medical attention, Lukat was taken to Riverside Hospital after suffering severe injuries.

At the time of the collision, both drivers were reportedly wearing their seat belts, as stated by the highway patrol. There is currently no information available on whether or not impairment or distractions played a role in the incident; the inquiry is still ongoing.
