Northern Minnesota is bracing for a mixed combination of winter storms beginning tonight.

A fast-moving clipper system is predicted to deliver freezing rain and minor ice accumulation, with snowfall of up to four inches in the Arrowhead region. Winter weather advisories remain in effect until Saturday AM.

The wintry weather will not finish there. A larger system that arrives Sunday afternoon might bring more freezing rain, particularly in the south of Northland.

Heavy, wet snow is expected in the Arrowhead, where a Winter Storm Watch has been issued.

Temperatures will remain in the mid-30s for the weekend but are expected to fall below normal beginning Tuesday.

Drivers should be cautious as slippery roads and limited visibility are expected throughout the region.
