Behind the wide-ranging powerful low-pressure system that is bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to parts of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, some abnormally chilly air is trickling in for the night.
Our primary focus overnight tonight will be on Oklahoma, Arkansas, and maybe the southeast corner of Kansas and the southwest corner of Missouri.
The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings for the northwest corner of Arkansas, as well as frost advisories in the surrounding Oklahoma watch area.
Both frost and freeze conditions can harm and/or kill late-season crops and plants.
We may also see a repeat of these circumstances overnight tomorrow in the same locations, as well as in south-central Missouri. Please take the necessary precautions to safeguard cattle, plants, and crops over the next few days.
In other news, a strong low-pressure system will move from the Southwest into Texas, then northeast into the Plains.
This raises the chance of severe weather overnight Sunday and Monday in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. Tornadoes are also possible, in addition to huge hail and devastating winds.
