According to Attorney Christopher Breault, some three years after losing part of his leg in a motorbike accident, a Georgia man has been granted millions of dollars in a case against the firm.
Jonathon Wright has been fighting GFL Environmental Services in court ever since the tragedy. That struggle ended on Tuesday when the jury awarded Wright $42 million following a two-week trial.
Breault claims his plaintiff is an experienced motorcycle rider who was hit by a garbage truck at one junction in Columbus.
“As he came around the corner of Warm Springs Road and Miller Road, a garbage truck owned by a Canadian company, GFL Environmental Services, USA, Inc. pulled out in front of him,” Breault said on her Facebook page. “About 1 second before impact, he braked and turned to the right.”
The left half of Wright’s body received the force, resulting in the amputation of his lower left leg and the permanent locking of his left arm. Wright also lost vision in his left eye, sustained a traumatic brain injury, and had several bones fracture.
Video footage and other evidence were shown to the jury during the trial.
Breault congratulated his co-counsels, Christopher Newbern and Shevon Thomas II, for their efforts in this matter.
