Fatal Head-on Collision in Pike County Driver Killed, Truck Driver Hospitalized

An accident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Pike County was reported to have resulted in fatalities by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

There was a head-on collision between a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer and a Chevrolet Suburban, according to state troopers.

The collision occurred just after 8:30 in the morning. In the vicinity of mile marker 61 on United States Route 231, approximately four miles south of Brundidge, the incident took place.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the station. Opelika resident Kevin Andrew Flannagan was the person that ALEA identified as the individual.

The individual who was driving the tractor-trailer was sent to a hospital in Troy.

Almost six hours were lost due to the accident that occurred on the route.

According to the inquiry, the crash is still ongoing.
