Heavy Snow and High Winds Cause Power Outages in Tolland County, Wind Chills Plummet

Over 6 inches of heavy wet snow fell in the high altitudes, causing power outages, particularly in Tolland County. There is much less snow in the valley and along the shore.

We received a couple of snow showers/squalls on Thursday afternoon, but they have passed! Now it’s all about that terrible wind!

A WIND ADVISORY will remain in force until this evening, with gusts ranging from 30 to 45 mph.

If you’re going to the New Haven Tree Lightning tonight, dress warmly–temperatures will be in the mid-30s, with wind chills in the teens!

Wind chills will be in the single digits and teens Friday morning, and conditions will not improve much in the afternoon.

Tonight: Bright but brutally cold. High temperatures in the 30s, with windchills in the teens and 20s.

Saturday: Partly sunny, mild winds, and more seasonable. Highs range from the mid to upper 30s.

Sunday: Morning flakes give way to an emerging sun. Highs in the upper 30s and mid-40s.

Monday: Increasing clouds and late-day rain. Highs in the upper 30s and mid-40s.

Tuesday: cloudy. Highs in the upper 30s and mid-40s.

Wednesday: Rainy, breezy, and milder. Highs in the low to mid-50s.

Thursday: Brighter, windy, and more seasonable, with highs reaching 40 degrees.
