Kentucky State Police are investigating a crash in Lyon County that killed two persons on Monday afternoon.
According to the announcement, on December 2 at 4:21 p.m., Post 1 dispatch got a report of a four-vehicle collision near the 42-mile marker on I-24 in Lyon County.
According to preliminary findings, Tiffany Anderson, 44, of Hopkinsville, was driving a 2000 Honda Passport westbound on I-24 with Tara Rex, 52, of Hopkinsville, James Simmons, 42, of Paducah, James Sanders, 49, of Hopkinsville, and Brian Holt, 50, of Cadiz.
A 2020 International truck and trailer driven by 54-year-old Tomas Almaguer-Martinez of Guadalupe, Mexico, was going westbound on I-24 beside 31-year-old Antioco Garcia-Morales of Mexico City, Mexico.
Anderson sped into the truck’s lane and sideswiped it, for reasons that are still being investigated. According to the announcement, she then crossed over the median into the eastbound lanes, colliding with two additional vehicles.
One of the vehicles was a 2024 GMC Sierra driven by 42-year-old Tucker Heaton of Princeton, with passengers Jordan Thomas, 38, and Kerry Orange, 56, both from Princeton. Dipen Tiwari, 26, of Pickerington, Ohio, drove the second car, a 2024 Freightliner truck and trailer.
Passengers Rex and Simmons were ejected from their vehicle and proclaimed dead at the scene. Anderson, the driver, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Sanders, another passenger, was taken to an out-of-state hospital with critical injuries. No other injuries were reported.
KSP received assistance on the scene from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Caldwell County EMS, Lyon County Coroner, Eddyville Police Department, Eddyville Fire Department, and Kuttawa Fire Department.
