The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued multiple warnings ahead of a major storm system that is likely to hit the region until Saturday AM. Snow levels will build through Thursday, shifting to rain by the end of the week, and then descending again to provide weekend precipitation to the Sierra.
A wind advisory is in effect for the northern and central Sacramento Valley from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday, with gusts reaching 45 mph. Residents should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions, flying debris, and falling limbs.
In addition, a Flood Watch is in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday for locations below 3,000 feet. Rivers, creeks, and streams may rise quickly, resulting in road ponding and localized floods. Be weather-aware and avoid flooding places.
