Man Arrested In Connection With Two Violent Attacks Near Metro Stations

A man from Fairfax County has been arrested and charged in connection with two disturbing abduction attempts that happened just an hour apart near Metro stations in Alexandria, Virginia. Both incidents occurred Friday night and involved women walking alone near the Potomac Yard and Braddock Road Metro stations.

The First Attack: Potomac Yard Metro Station

Around 8:45 p.m. on May 31, a 30-year-old woman was waiting with her 4-year-old daughter near the Potomac Yard Metro Station. According to police, a man approached her, initiated an assault, and attempted to abduct her. She managed to fight him off and escape with her child. The incident left her shaken but physically unharmed.

Immediately afterward, she contacted Alexandria Police, prompting authorities to begin an urgent investigation.

The Second Attack: Braddock Road Metro Station

Less than an hour later, at around 9:40 p.m., another woman believed to be in her mid-30s was walking near the Braddock Road Metro Station when she was attacked from behind. The suspect reportedly tried to drag her to the ground. She resisted, broke free, and quickly contacted 911.

Both victims described a similar attacker and both assaults were captured on surveillance cameras, which played a crucial role in the investigation.

The Arrest and Charges

With help from Metro Transit Police, Alexandria investigators reviewed footage from both scenes and were able to identify a suspect. By Sunday, June 2, 35-year-old Jeffrey Gary, a resident of Fairfax County, was taken into custody.

Gary has been charged with multiple serious offenses:

  • Two counts of abduction with force
  • One count of assault and battery
  • One count of sexual battery

He is currently being held without bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 7, 2025.

Alexandria Police believe that these may not be isolated incidents. They are urging anyone with additional information or anyone who may have experienced a similar attack to come forward.
