A man was shot and badly injured Wednesday afternoon on crowded Clark Street in Lincoln Park.
Police said the incident occurred at 3:58 p.m. on Clark Street, just south of Arlington Place.
Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43rd) stated that the individual who was later shot displayed “erratic and dangerous behavior” and attacked the gunman. According to authorities, the shooter then pulled out a revolver and fired fire.
The person was shot in the chest and sent to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
Knudsen’s office reported that the shooter ran south on Clark Street on foot. Nobody was in custody late Wednesday.
Following the incident, police were visible on the street near Döner 97 (2435 N. Clark St.) and Mitazi Salon and Boutique (2433 N. Clark St.). Following the incident, Clark Street was closed between Arlington Place and Fullerton Parkway, with crime scene tape set up on the street.
Knudsen’s office stated that there is cause to suspect the shooting was an isolated event in which the victim and shooter knew each other.
The alderman stated that there would be an increased police presence in the area on Wednesday evening.
