A Maryland man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a high-speed police chase that ended tragically, killing his passenger in the crash.
On Wednesday, Antoine Randall, 20, of Boyds, received an eight-year term for his role in the crash.
On September 20, Randall pleaded guilty to various crimes in connection with the fatal crash involving his teenage passenger. The allegations included gross negligent manslaughter by motor vehicle, fleeing and escaping police that resulted in death, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
The crash occurred on December 13, 2023, when Montgomery County Police officers attempted to stop Randall’s white 2016 Nissan Maxima at Bucknell Drive and Cambridge Park Court in Wheaton. Instead of halting, Randall struck the police car and fled, sparking a chase.
The pursuit continued for approximately 1.7 miles along Georgia Avenue. Randall lost control of his vehicle somewhere near Henderson Avenue. The Nissan hit a median, took off, and collided with two automobiles in the other lane—a light blue 2006 Toyota Corolla and a 2016 Honda Pilot.
The drivers of the Corolla and Pilot were not seriously injured, but Randall’s front-seat passenger, a juvenile male, died as a result of the incident.
