If you use Meta’s Messenger software to make calls, the latest update brings a slew of new video and voice calling options, according to the official Meta blog.
You can add an AI-generated background to your screen during a video conversation by touching on the effects button in the sidebar and selecting “Backgrounds.”
Instead of displaying your friends and family your unkempt apartment or automobile, which you haven’t cleaned since you got it, you may replace the background with a field of sunflowers or an extraterrestrial environment as one of its suns’ sets. That’s something we’ve seen on almost every other video-calling platform, so it’s no surprise to see Meta include it here.
Meta also introduced new video call features such as high-definition video, background noise suppression, and voice isolation “to help you make clearer, higher-quality calls directly from Messenger,” according to the blog.
Messenger calls performed over W-iFi connections will use the HD video functionality by default. Turning on “Mobile data for HD video” in settings allows you to make HD calls over cellular data. In Messenger’s call options section, you may additionally enable or disable background noise suppression and voice isolation.
You can now send voice and video messages to your contacts in addition to text messages and emojis. Tap the “record message” button on the lower right side of the screen to leave a video or audio message if the person you’re calling doesn’t answer the phone.
Finally, if you don’t have a free hand but need to make a call, iPhone users can utilize Siri to make calls and send messages through Meta’s Messenger app. Simply activate Siri and say “Hey Siri, send a message to [contact name] on Messenger” and dictate the message you wish to send.
