The driver of a white Ram pickup truck that was traveling southbound on Hayes Road reportedly veered left and crossed the center turn lane into northbound traffic, causing a white Mazda to collide with it head-on. Before coming to a stop on its roof on the grass beside Hayes Avenue in the northbound direction, the Mazda rolled multiple times.

The woman who was driving the Mazda, who was 45 years old and from Shelby Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. In the vehicle, she was the only person that was present.
A young man, aged 17, who was driving the Ram, was sent to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. He is currently in stable condition.
The sheriff’s office does not believe that alcohol played a role in the collision.
The investigation is still being carried out.
