Four men from Newark, New Jersey, have been charged with a violent home invasion targeting an elderly couple in Union Township. The incident, which took place on the morning of September 20, 2024, has left the community shaken and concerned about the safety of its senior residents.
The Incident
According to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and Union Township Police Department, the suspectsidentified as 20-year-old Asim Key, 22-year-olds Rahiem Maldonado and Altamir Thornton, and 19-year-old Yashir Phillips forcefully entered the home of an elderly couple on Scott Court. The group allegedly assaulted the couple during the break-in, causing serious injuries that required immediate medical attention.
The suspects did not stop at violence; they also stole the keys to a luxury vehicle parked at the residence.
