Radcliff Couple Charged With Child Abuse, Drug Trafficking After Five-year-old Boy’s Hospitalization

A Radcliff couple was arrested Tuesday night on child abuse charges after a five-year-old in their care was discovered to be dangerously underweight.

Joshua Inman, 32, and Whitney Young, 33, were detained at their residence on Hamilton Street in Radcliff at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. They are accused of assaulting Inman’s five-year-old son, who was under their care.

According to Radcliff Detective Kenneth Mattingly, a family acquaintance was concerned about the child’s well-being and took him to the hospital on Monday. Mattingly claims Norton Children’s Hospital alerted Radcliff Police after the youngster was brought to them because it was clear that child abuse had occurred.

Police believe the assault occurred over several months, but their investigation is still in its early stages, and they are interviewing witnesses. The child remains hospitalized.

Radcliff Police then executed a search warrant at Inman and Young’s house on Tuesday night. Inside the home, authorities discovered cocaine, a gun, and other evidence that led them to suspect that drug trafficking was taking place.

Inman and Young were detained and transported to the Hardin County Detention Center.

Both are charged with criminal abuse of a kid under the age of twelve. Inman was also charged with many narcotics offenses as well as being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to online court records, no bond has been set in this instance.
