Teen Found Dead in Miami County Home, Another Teen Arrested Amid Ongoing Investigation

Authorities in eastern Kansas are investigating a teenager’s death and have arrested another adolescent.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office said that emergency services arrived at the 22800 block of Lewis Drive, southwest of Spring Hill, around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The deceased was discovered dead on the scene, and the sheriff’s office reported that another youngster was arrested.

According to KMBC, personnel sought additional resources to assist with the investigation at the scene, which continued throughout the day.

“We know this will have an impact on the community, many families, and students,” Miami County Undersheriff Matthew Kelly said.

There were others in the house at the time of the occurrence. The sheriff’s office did not say if the teenagers resided there. A neighbor told the Kansas City ABC affiliate that the rural community is calm and welcoming.

“Every day, the little girls go up and down the road to catch the bus. Pat Martely described it as a calm neighborhood.

The sheriff’s office has not published any identities or stated how the victim died.
