Three people died and one was critically injured when a Tesla Cybertruck crashed in California early Wednesday morning. The crash occurred around 3.10 a.m. near Piedmont, California, northeast of Oakland.
Police suspect speed contributed to the crash, but the investigation is still underway.
The Cybertruck’s occupants were returning from an event. The surviving victim was rescued from the flaming vehicle by another individual who was not present at the time.
According to Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers, “There’s no indication that mechanical effects were the primary cause for the collision.” He declined to provide the victims’ identities.
The Cybertruck caught fire following the crash. Firefighters immediately extinguished the fire.
