Two Killed in Separate Lexington Crashes; Hit-and-run Driver Arrested

In Lexington on Monday evening, two individuals were fatally injured in separate collisions, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The initial collision occurred at 5:55 p.m. on Winchester Road, in close proximity to Ashton Drive. According to Lexington police Lt. Dillan Taylor, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and pronounced deceased at the site.

Angelina Wells, 43, of Lexington, was identified as the casualty by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. She perished as a result of blunt force injuries, and her death was classified as an accident.

Taylor stated that charges are not anticipated to be filed against the driver, who remained on the site. At 11:10 p.m., the second collision occurred at Richmond and Squires roads. Taylor stated that the incident was a hit-and-run involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

The collision resulted in the death of the moped driver. James Stamper, a 47-year-old resident of Paris, was identified as the passenger by the coroner’s office. Stamper’s death was described as an accident by the coroner’s office, as he was traveling a moped when it was struck by a vehicle.

Logan Rogers, 21, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid resulting in death or grievous physical injury by the police later Tuesday. The real-time intelligence center of the police identified Rogers as the other driver implicated in the hit-and-run.

According to detention records, Rogers is currently being detained at the Fayette County Detention Center without a bond.

Rogers was accused with running a red light in Harrodsburg in October, according to court records. Additionally, he was accused of failing to maintain the necessary insurance, failure to produce an insurance card, and failure to utilize a seat belt.

As of November 7, Kentucky State Police data indicates that there have been 28 fatal collisions in Lexington this year.
