Two Suspects Arrested For Violent Pine Ridge Home Invasion Third Accomplice Still At Large

Two men have been arrested in connection with a violent home invasion in Gainesville’s Pine Ridge neighborhood, while law enforcement continues to search for a third suspect — a woman who allegedly led a brutal assault during the break-in.

The alarming incident occurred on the evening of June 1, 2025, when Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a frantic 911 call. The call came from two young children who reported that their home had just been invaded by three individuals — two men and a woman — and that their mother had been physically attacked.

According to police reports, the suspects forcefully entered the home and quickly began assaulting the mother of the children. The female suspect, described as the primary aggressor, allegedly beat the woman across multiple rooms in the house. One of the male suspects also participated in the attack, while the other tried to control the children and keep them from intervening.

Officers arrived at the Pine Ridge Apartments complex shortly after the call and located two suspects in a nearby courtyard. One of them, later identified as 35-year-old Schyler Alexander Johnson, approached officers in an aggressive manner. Officers quickly subdued and handcuffed him.

The second suspect, identified as Vandale Denard Martin Jr., 24, reportedly attempted to flee and resisted arrest. However, he was apprehended after a brief struggle. Officers reported that both men were noncompliant during the arrest process but were taken into custody without any reported injuries to law enforcement.

Martin has a known criminal history, including three adult felony convictions. He had been released from prison in November 2024 after serving a sentence for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Johnson also has an extensive criminal record, including one felony conviction and seven misdemeanors.

Both men now face serious charges, including:

  • Burglary with Battery
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence
  • Breach of the Peace

As of June 3, 2025, both suspects remain in custody at the Alachua County Jail without bond for the burglary-related charges. Additional charges could be pending as the investigation progresses.

The third suspect, a woman who reportedly led the physical assault on the victim, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Police have not released a description of the unidentified woman and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help in identifying and locating her.

The Gainesville Police Department continues to investigate the motive behind the invasion, as well as the relationship, if any, between the suspects and the victim.

Citizens with relevant information about the case or the female suspect’s identity are encouraged to contact the Gainesville Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips can be submitted online through Florida Crime Stoppers or by calling (352) 372-STOP.

Law enforcement officials say this incident highlights the importance of neighborhood vigilance and fast response by emergency personnel. The bravery shown by the children in calling 911 was key to the timely arrests made in this case.
