Western Washington is expecting more cold and rainy weather today as an upper-level trough sweeps through the region.
Rainfall quantities could reach a quarter inch in the inland lowlands, with coastal locations receiving slightly more. Snow levels are predicted to drop, bringing snow to mountain routes such as Stevens Pass, which might receive 1-3 inches.
In addition to rain and snow, coastal flooding is a current risk due to small tidal overflow during high tide. This flooding may harm shorelines and low-lying communities, with additional coastal flooding anticipated in the coming days.
A temporary break from the rain is predicted on Friday as the weather system passes east, allowing for some dry spells.
However, leftover rainfall may bring fog to the interior early in the day. Despite the reprieve, unsettled weather will return this weekend, bringing colder temperatures and additional precipitation into next week.
