A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for sections of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, with snowfall totals anticipated to exceed 9 inches in some locations by early Tuesday morning.
According to the Pueblo National Weather Service, the Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Wet Mountains will be under an advisory from 11 a.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Higher elevations in these locations are expected to receive 3–9 inches of snow. Lower elevations, including Walsenburg and Trinidad, might experience 3 to 5 inches.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a similar alert for northern New Mexico’s Raton Pass, as well as Johnson and Bartlett Mesa. Snowfall might reach 5 inches near the Colorado border, especially above 7,500 feet.
Travelers should be prepared for hazardous circumstances, including slick roadways and low visibility, especially along Interstate 25. Motorists are asked to slow down and allow for more travel time.
