A woman from Harlingen now faces serious legal consequences after an arrest warrant was issued against her. She was apprehended at the Progreso Port of Entry following the confirmation of her criminal status. Authorities are pursuing justice after a shocking case came to light involving the sexual assault of a young victim.
According to a news statement issued by the United States Customs and Border Patrol, Aisha Corina Marquez, who is 27 years old, was sent for a secondary examination on Saturday, December 7, while she was crossing the Progreso International Bridge on her way back to the United States from Mexico. U.S. citizenship is held by Marquez.
During the process of validating her identity, CBP officials utilized biometric verification as well as databases maintained by federal law enforcement.
It was found out that she was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for felony sexual assault of a child, including grooming, as well as failing to appear in court. The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office is the one that issued the warrant.
Marquez was handed over to the sheriff’s deputies of Hidalgo County by the officials of the Customs and Border Protection.
