Tonight, a winter storm is moving into western Lower Michigan, bringing with it hazardous driving conditions.
Whiteouts are predicted to occur along the route of a cold front moving in from Wisconsin, which is predicted to bring with it strong winds and heavy snow squalls.
Travel risks are likely to worsen due to slippery roads and frigid temperatures that plunge into the 20s.
By Thursday night, lake-effect snow bands—exacerbated by the heat and moisture of Lake Michigan—may drop up to 10 inches in certain places, especially in areas where snowfall lasts the longest. There is still a Winter Storm Warning in force.
Fairweather will return over the weekend, and the storm will subside by Friday. But early next week, there will likely be a thaw with rain, followed by cooler temperatures and possibly snow showers in the middle of the week. Be ready!
