With temperatures below freezing on top of the king tides that are expected to hit the Bay Area this weekend, the coast is likely to flood.
The Bay Area office of the National Weather Service says that parts of the Central and Northern California coast will likely get frost and freeze over Friday night into Saturday morning.
The temperature is expected to drop to the upper 20s and lower 30s, which is dangerous for people who aren’t inside and pets that are outside. Pipes and plants could also get broken.
After Friday night, these below-freezing temperatures could affect places in San Benito County, the inner valleys and mountains of the North Bay, and the Cholame Hills in Monterey County.
The temperature will drop to 35 degrees in Sonoma on Friday night. A frost warning has been sent out for places like Del Norte, Humboldt, and the Mendocino Coast.
People in Northern California can get ready for the cold weather by bringing their plants and pets inside and wrapping or draining their pipes to keep them from freezing.
An expert from the weather service told SFGATE, “You should always think about the four P’s.” “You need to keep people, pets, plants, and pipes safe.” Rogacheski says that you should bring your pets inside, bundle them up, and keep a close eye on your neighborhood.
Rogacheski said, “Check on your family, friends, and neighbors to see how they’re doing these days.”
